Important Things You Should Know About Capital One Auto Navigator
Welcome to Auto Navigator, a website owned and operated by Capital One, N.A.
A. Who We Are:
Auto Navigator is a car shopping and financing platform. We display cars from participating dealers and provide tools to help you find the right car, pre-qualify for financing, customize your deal, and connect with the dealer to finalize your purchase.
Capital One is not a car broker or dealer. We don't own any of the cars you see on Auto Navigator. We also don't buy, sell, or exchange cars. If you buy a car you see on Auto Navigator, the purchase and sale transaction will be between you and the dealer.
B. Participating Dealers:
Auto Navigator displays inventory from thousands of participating dealers nationwide (excluding Alaska and Hawaii). Capital One may add or remove participating dealers at any time, so participating dealers may change without notice.
Some participating dealers pay Capital One. Cars available from dealers who pay Capital One display a badge that says “Dealer Partner.”
C. Cars shown on Auto Navigator:
Capital One receives frequent updates from participating dealers to ensure that the cars you see on Auto Navigator are actually available for purchase. However, cars can be sold at any moment, so Capital One doesn’t guarantee that a car you see on Auto Navigator will always be available. You should confirm the availability of a particular car by contacting the dealer before you visit.
All of the information about specific vehicles that you see on Auto Navigator comes from participating dealers, and/or third-party sources, not Capital One. This includes, but is not limited to:
- Dealer advertised price
- Pictures
- Dealer notes or comments
- Mileage
- Fuel economy
- Features.
Although Capital One requires participating dealers to provide accurate information about the cars displayed on Auto Navigator, Capital One doesn't guarantee that the information it gets from participating dealers is always complete, accurate, reliable, or current. Some of the vehicle images shown are stock photos, provided by the dealer or third-party sources. Trim, color, and specifications of vehicles in stock photos may vary from the specific vehicle listed for sale. Capital One also doesn't make any warranties, guarantees, or representations about the quality, safety, condition, or availability of any of the cars listed for sale on our site.
D. Pre-qualification:
In Auto Navigator, pre-qualification refers to an estimate for financing given by a lender based on information provided by you and a review of your credit history.
Your actual financing terms aren't final until you complete the financing process at the dealer. Your actual financing terms might be different from your pre-qualified financing terms if you update your information by calling Capital One or a participating lender, if you give the dealer different information than the information in your pre-qualification request, if you choose to buy a different car or finance with a different lender, or if your credit history changes after you pre-qualify.
Pre-qualified financing terms typically include monthly payment, APR, and loan term length. Capital One and participating lenders do not guarantee that the dealer will provide you with the same terms outlined in your pre-qualification offer. For example, the loan term lengths offered online are provided based on common monthly increments, but other terms options may be available at the dealer. But not everyone qualifies for each of these term lengths. Pre-qualified rates and financing terms are subject to change without notice.
APR is the Annual Percentage Rate. Your pre-qualified APR depends on several factors, including, but not limited to: your credit history, the total amount you are financing, the down payment and loan term you select, the loan-to-value ratio, and certain vehicle characteristics.
If you are currently a Capital One customer, you may have the option to pre-fill certain fields of your pre-qualification request with information you have previously provided to Capital One. This may include, but is not limited to, information such as your name, address, contact information, employment information, income, social security number and date of birth. Capital One does not guarantee that any pre-filled information is current, complete or accurate. It’s up to you to confirm any pre-filled information before submitting. Capital One may require you to provide additional information during the pre-qualification process to help verify your identity or prove that all the information you provided is accurate.
Your Capital One pre-qualification expires 30 days from the date Capital One receives your request for pre-qualification. If your pre-qualification expires before you use it, you can always make another request, but the decision on that request and the pre-qualified terms you receive may be different.
If you've recently applied for and funded another loan with Capital One, you may no longer be eligible to get a new loan with your Capital One pre-qualification.
When you submit a credit application at the dealer, you may be asked to provide additional information to verify your identity and/or the accuracy of other details included in your application.
Any financing offers made by lenders other than Capital One are subject to the terms of that lender.
E. Age, Income and Other Restrictions:
While anyone can use most of the features on Auto Navigator, you have to meet certain requirements to pre-qualify.
To pre-qualify, you must:
- Be at least 18 years old
- Have a valid street address within the contiguous United States (a valid APO/FPO address also works)
- Have a minimum monthly income of at least $1,500
Also, your existing Capital One accounts must be in good standing (not over limit, past due or charged off), and you must not have 3 or more open Capital One Auto Finance accounts or an aggregate Capital One auto loan amount over $100,000. Your pre-qualification request may be declined if you don't meet these conditions.
F. Vehicle Type Restrictions:
You may not be able to use your pre-qualification to finance all vehicles you see on Auto Navigator.
In general, your pre-qualification can be used for:
a new or used car, light truck, minivan, or SUV that:
- Was manufactured for personal use
- Has fewer than 120,000 miles
- Has a model year within the last 10 years
- Is available from a participating dealer.
In some instances, a car from an older model year or that has higher mileage (up to 150,000 miles) may be eligible.
While we want you to find a vehicle you really love, Capital One doesn't finance certain vehicle makes including but not limited to: Oldsmobile, Daewoo, Saab, Suzuki, or Isuzu vehicles. We also don't finance:
- Commercial vehicles
- Lease buyouts
- Motorcycles
- Recreational vehicles (RVs)
- ATVs
- Camper vans
- Motor homes
- Vehicles with a history of chronic malfunctions
- Vehicles repurchased by the manufacturer or dealer under state lemon laws
- Branded title vehicles
- Vehicles without a Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) or title issued.
We may determine a vehicle to be commercial or otherwise ineligible based on the model and/or information provided to us.
Finally, we don't finance vehicles purchased from non-participating dealters, auto brokers or private party sellers.
G. Participating Lenders:
Capital One has partnered with other lenders to expand your pre-qualified financing options. Pre-qualified financing terms offered by a participating lender are solely determined and provided by that participating lender.
Participating lenders may have their own eligibility restrictions, and some pay Capital One if you finance with them.
For each vehicle, Auto Navigator displays pre-qualified terms from one participating lender with which you are pre-qualified. If you are pre-qualified with more than one participating lender, which participating lender's pre-qualified terms display for a specific vehicle will be based on a dealership’s participating lender preference. You may have other pre-qualified offers available.
H. Third Party Information:
In addition to the car information provided by participating dealers, Capital One uses information from other third parties to make your experience better. That information includes, but isn't limited to: maps, car trade-in values, car reviews and car history reports and information (including but not limited to vehicle damage severity and prior use type).
Although Capital One requires its vendors to provide accurate information, Capital One doesn't guarantee that the information it gets from those parties is complete, accurate, reliable, current or error-free. You should verify the accuracy of any third party information on your own.
Auto Navigator contains links to third-party web sites. Capital One doesn't control or maintain those sites and isn't responsible for the contents of any linked sites. Capital One provides these links for your convenience, but that doesn't imply that Capital One endorses, sponsors or has any affiliation with the linked sites or their owners or operators. You should make whatever investigation you feel necessary or appropriate, including reviewing their Terms of Use and Privacy Policies, before proceeding with any transaction with any of these third parties.
Customer reviews of Auto Navigator are submitted by validated Capital One customers who use Capital One Auto Navigator. They may have seen a different version of Auto Navigator than what you see.
