As a follow-up to the departed Mercedes SLR McLaren, the Mercedes SLS AMG introduced in 2011 as an aluminum-bodied coupe with gullwing doors. A roadster with conventional doors followed a year later. Mercedes said the classic 300SL of the 1950s inspired the SLS AMG's styling. Aviation themes define the interior, combining high-end materials such as hand-stitched premium leather and metal with the era's latest infotainment technology and an 11-speaker premium sound system. Equipped with a powerful V8 engine, the SLS AMG can accelerate to 60 mph in less than 4 seconds and can nearly hit 200 mph as a top speed, according to Mercedes. The GT model in 2013 improved on these numbers. For its last year of sales in 2015, the limited-production supercar came only as the SLS GT Final Edition.
